WebbPatients who have undergone silicone vocal cord medialization and require additional surgery are at risk for airway complications. There is a narrowed glottic aperture that may be prone to develop postoperative laryngeal edema and prosthesis extrusion. WebbPatients taking warfarin or those undergoing revision thyroplasty may be unsuitable as day cases. However, in the vast majority of patients, day surgery is a feasible option. None of the patients who underwent unilateral or bilateral type one thyroplasty experienced airway compromise in the post-operative period, requiring medical intervention.
